Dr Giacomo Zanello attended the UNU-WIDER conference

Dr Giacomo Zanello presented the paper “Innovation Under the Radar in Low Income Countries: Evidence from Ghana” at the UNU-WIDER conference in Helsinki (24-25 June 2013). The paper aims to better understand the nature of innovation in the private sector in low income countries, and the determinants and transmission channels for innovation creation, diffusion and adoption. The research is built upon the recent fieldwork in Ghana under the Diffusion of Innovation in Low Income Countries (DILIC) Project.

The conference titled “L2C – Learning to Compete: Industrial Development and Policy in Africa” was supported by UNU-WIDER, the Brookings Institution and the African Development Bank and brought together research on industrial development and industrial policy in Africa. More than 200 participants attended the conference, from academia to policy maker institutions.
