TMCD-SBS Doctoral Research Workshops

Researchers from the TMCD and Said Business School have met for the last three years in a regular workshop to support doctoral research. The collaboration, pioneered by Prof Xiaolan Fu and Dr Marc Ventresca, convenes for three hours twice each term to explore early stage innovation research.

The workshop’s aim is to provide a forum where students can talk through dissertation and other research ideas and gain presentation experience.  Three or four students present for ten to twelve minutes at each workshop, followed by 30 minutes of comments, Q&A, and reflection.

One of the benefits is that it helps scholars acquire in-depth insights into how their colleagues build their research projects, deal with challenges or problems, and connect their empirical work to wider debates in the literature. Scholars and students are free to put themselves forward to make a presentation if they have something to share.

The convenors want to thank Giacomo Zanello (now a Lecturer at Reading University) and Serena Masino (currently a TMCD research officer) for their help with sustaining the workshop last year.

The next workshop is scheduled on 29th October from 9:00 – 11:45am at Said Business School (Room TBC).
