Does FDI provide spoils, or does it just spoil?

Professor Xiaolan Fu has written an article for China Daily that examines whether the impact of Chinese foreign direct investment on developing countries differs from that of traditional FDI. Professor Fu examines the impact of Chinese FDI on growth and job creation and also explores the argument that Chinese investment is mainly focussed on resource seeking. She also discusses the findings of a firm-level survey in Guangdong province jointly carried out by Oxford University and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies that shed interesting light on the sector and ownership distribution of China's outward FDI.
