Distinguished Guest Lecture by Prof Wu Jinglian (吴敬琏)

Professor Wu Jinglian, one of China's most influential economists, delivered the ODID, TMCD & Cairncross Foundation Distinguished Guest Lecture on 5 December 2012 in the Nissan Lecture Theatre, St Antony’s College.

Professor Wu’s Lecture focused on 'The Challenges in China's Economic Policy and System Reforms in a Changing Global Economy'. Professor Adrian Wood was the invited panellist and Professor Valpy Fitzgerald chaired the lecture.

As an advisor to senior Chinese policymakers and a leading proponent of the Overall Reform School that promotes market reforms, the rule of law and democracy in China, Professor Wu has had an important influence on China's reforms and economic transition.

He is Senior Research Fellow at the Development Research Centre of the State Council, Professor of Economics at the China Europe International Business School at Peking University and at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

He is also Deputy Director of the Advisory Committee for State Informatisation and of the National Planning Advisory Committee, Advisor of the Executive Committee of the International Economics Association (IEA), Secretary-General of the Society of Entrepreneurs and Ecology, Chief Editor of Comparative Studies and Chief Editor of the Journal of Legal and Economic Studies.

He is also a member of the International Advisory Board of the Cairncross Foundation (Beijing).
