TMCD Researcher attends conferences in Latin America

Cintia Kulzer Sacilotto, a researcher at the TMD Centre, attended two conferences in Latin America: the 7th Conference on Micro Evidence on Innovation in Developing Economies (MEIDE) held on November 7-8, 2013 in Santiago, Chile and the 1st Conference on Latin American Network for Learning and Innovation and Competence Building Systems (LALICS) held on November 10-13, 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The researcher presented one of her DPhil chapters “Channels for the Diffusion of Innovations in Industrial Clusters: The Role of Networks among Local Firms” at the MEIDE Conference. The chapter investigates the overall impact of new-to-the-cluster firms on the transfer of technologies through diverse channels of diffusion. It analyses the diffusion of two successful innovations spread after the arrival of advanced firms in a footwear cluster in Brazil, particularly through social network relationships among local firms.
